from I am… album.

—–

Surely, surely, we
Learn as we live
And then, and then, we
Forget as we live

Things that have a beginning
Will have an end someday
All things great and small
All of them

If this world has to be split into two
The winners and the losers
Ah, I’ll just be a loser
I want to always be a loser

Surely, surely, we
Are beautiful through sorrow
Therefore, therefore, we
Are sullied through sorrow

For the sake of things to protect
We will sacrifice something again today
All things great and small
All of them

If this world has to be split into two
The winners and the losers
Ah, I’ll just be a loser
I want to always be a loser

Just what can I say to you?
I’m just so small and insignificant
So let us say no more words now
Because sometimes, yes
Words are excessive and powerless

上からマリコ (Ue kara Mariko) – Mariko from the top

from Ue kara Mariko single.

—–

You, my senior, are so wild and free
Even I can’t predict your next move

In the crowd, suddenly turning around
You pestered (me)
For a kiss

Mariko from the top, you sadistic person!
So unreasonable, like a tablet of love
Why so sudden? Why do you shut your eyes?
Are you for real? Or is this a joke?

The age gap is a thrill, like a Ferris Wheel
You swayed my heart and made it hammer hard

When I hesitate, to agitate me
You (gently) said
“You coward”

Pestering Mariko, you selfish person!
Such bad behaviour, like you’re just trying out love
Why now? Why here?
Are you for real? Are you a baby?

Acting shy, so teasingly
You pout your lips

Mariko from the top, you sadistic person!
So unreasonable, like a tablet of love
Why so sudden? Why do you shut your eyes?
Are you for real? Or is this a joke?

My senior (my senior), that’s you, but (that’s you, but)
More than anyone else (More than anyone else), you’re just the cutest
My senior (my senior), that’s you, but (that’s you, but)
You’re always (you’re always), a teenager to me

Misa’s note
1) Tablet of love comes from the phrase “愛の踏み絵” or “ai no fumie”. A “fumie” is tablet bearing Christian images. During the Edo period, suspected Christians were forced to step on the fumie to prove that they were not Christians, which was a banned religion in Japan then. Read more here:

フィッシュ.オン (Fisshu On) – Fish On

from Thank You album.

—–

Roar, get worked up, stir up the sky noisily
Strum out runaway delusions with a JAGAJAAN
Soar, fly out, if we go even higher
Even scattered worries have to crouch down for a moment

A new world, floating splash, emotions reach an extreme here
If you’re lost, can’t hear, gather free information with neglect

Unravel the entanglements, don’t say “I don’t know”
Instinct alone won’t be enough, I gotcha, yes
Get mixed up with “I love you”, go wild with your everything
Dazzled only by your face, totally attached

Roar, get worked up, stir up the sky noisily
Strum out tar-gui lo-so with a JAGAJAAN
Soar, fly out, if we go even higher
Even scattered worries have to crouch down for a moment

Give an all-knowing look, and one day, like that explorer
You’ll steadily progress, catching even the Ito fish, yeah
Stick out your tongue cheekily, just set things straight
If it starts to rain polka dots, move to zero

Roar, get worked up, stir up the sky noisily
Strum out runaway delusions with a JAGAJAAN
Soar, fly out, if we go even higher
Even scattered worries have to crouch down for a moment

Misa’s notes
1) “tar-gui lo-so” comes from “ターギーのローソー” which is an inversion of “ギーターのソーロー” or “guitar solo”.
2) The Ito fish is also known as the Japanese huchen or Hucho perryi.
